Job summary

Dallas County Hospital in Perry, IA is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant for hospitalist/ER coverage. The position offers part-time or full-time hours with weekend shifts and some 24-hour blocks.

The role requires completing histories, exams, orders, and documentation; coordinating care with physicians; following EMTALA and infection control policies; and maintaining licensure and certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited ARNP program.
• Current and unrestricted ARNP license (Iowa).
• BLS and mandatory reporting certification (or within 90 days).
• ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certification (or within one year).
• ANCC or AANP certification.
• Proof of liability insurance coverage.
• DEA and Iowa controlled substances registrations eligibility.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and prioritization.
• Ability to work in teams and communicate clearly.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Obtain histories, review records, and perform physical examinations.
• Develop care plans based on diagnoses and patient needs.
• Round on patients; communicate lab results to team.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation in patient records.
• Order labs and imaging; interpret results with physician review.
• Instruct patients on medications and treatment plans.
• Perform routine procedures as appropriate.
• Maintain adherence to EMTALA and infection control policies.
• Educate patients about health, lifestyle, and disease management.
• Demonstrate teamwork and professional conduct.
