Job summary

CommonSpirit Medical Group in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia seeks a Nurse Practitioner (Hospitalist) to provide direct inpatient care under physician supervision. You will assess, diagnose, and manage hospitalized patients from admission through discharge, coordinating with the medical team to ensure high-quality care.

The role emphasizes advanced clinical proficiency, compassionate patient care, and adherence to protocol-guided practice within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• MSN and 3-5 years of acute care clinical nursing practice.
• 1-3 years NP experience in acute or primary care, or equivalent RN experience.
• Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse: TN, upon hire.
• Registered Nurse: TN, upon hire.
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire.
• Nurse Practitioner - AANPCP, upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain medical histories when necessary.
• Perform physical exams (within established protocol).
• Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines). Order diagnostic test.
• Prescribe or recommend medications for prescription for medications and treatment (within protocol guidelines). Provide preventive health screenings and immunizations for children and adults.
• Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling.
• Assist the doctor with office surgeries. Assure charts are signed off by the doctor within 7 days.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Nurse Practitioner, Hospitalist, you will be responsible for utilizing training and skills to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician.

Every day, you will apply your advanced clinical expertise to assess, diagnose, and manage the care of hospitalized patients from admission through discharge. This involves conducting comprehensive physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing and implementing treatment plans, and collaborating closely with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to ensure seamless and high-quality inpatient care.
