Job summary

Oceans Healthcare is seeking a Cook to prepare meals for residents in a hospital/long-term care setting. You will plan daily menus, follow recipes, and ensure meals meet therapeutic diet standards and safety temperatures.

Completion of culinary school and 2+ years in healthcare cooking preferred; CPR certification and de-escalation training required. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, collaborating with nursing staff and dietary teams.

Qualifications

• Completion of culinary school required.
• Minimum 2 years cook experience in healthcare setting preferred.
• Must read and write, follow recipes, and understand therapeutic diets.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training completed.

Responsibilities

• Plans daily cooking schedule to meet deadlines and follows standardized recipes.
• Directs the work of assistants and aides in a professional manner.
• Prepares and serves meals per menus, physician orders, resident preferences, and therapeutic diet spreadsheet.
• Assures food is served at proper temperatures and records these temperatures.
• Makes proper food substitutions within food groups as directed.
• Serves food on tray line at mealtime.
• Cleans, sanitizes, and covers kitchen equipment and follows cleaning assignments.
• Prepares for the following day’s menu.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
