Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing purposes.
• Training in de-escalation, workplace violence prevention, customer service, and healthcare security practices preferred.
• No prior security experience required.
• Experience in healthcare, military, public safety, law enforcement support, corrections, or security-related environments preferred.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and be insurable under the organization’s insurance carrier requirements and standards.
• Must obtain a State of Florida Class “D” Security Officer License within 90 days of hire and maintain during employment.
• Must obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 60 days of hire and maintain annual renewal.
• Must obtain Basic Security Officer Certification or higher through the IAHSS within 60 days of hire and maintain during employment.

Responsibilities

• Escort visitors, employees, students, and authorized people upon request.
• Patrol hospital areas 24/7 on foot, bicycle, and/or vehicle.
• Provide access support for authorized personnel in restricted areas.
• Detect suspicious activity and respond to safety concerns.
• Report incidents and violations to leadership and law enforcement as appropriate.
• Investigate incidents, interview witnesses, and prepare reports with tact and diplomacy.
