The PRN Pharmacy Technician provides as-needed technical and operational support for pharmacy services in a hospital setting. Supports medication preparation, procurement, distribution, and storage in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards. Responsibilities may include sterile compounding, medication preparation, inventory support, and operation of automated dispensing systems to promote safe and effective medication use. The PRN Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy operations based on variable scheduling, patient volume, and operational demand while upholding the mission, vision, and values of MSRH. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with professional standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications, including sterile, hazardous, and investigational drugs, in accordance with established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Support medication distribution processes, including filling, labeling, and delivering medications.
• Operate automated dispensing systems and maintain accurate medication inventory levels.
• Assist with inventory management, including stocking, monitoring expiration dates, and managing drug returns.
• Maintain cleanroom standards, including proper cleaning and compliance with sterile compounding requirements.
• Handle and store medications, including hazardous and investigational drugs, in accordance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
• Generate and review reports related to medication usage, inventory, and restocking needs.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of medication preparation and documentation.
• Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare team members to support safe medication use.
• Comply with all regulatory, safety, infection control, and quality standards.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned based on operational needs.

Benefits Overview

UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Dental

Three dental insurance plan options are available for employees and their families through Delta Dental Insurance Company, two PPOs and one dental HMO plan. Both PPO plans allow employees to choose any licensed dentist.

Time Off

A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:

• Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
• Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
• Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
• Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
