The position requires a NYS2-year traineeship or equivalent, or four years of full-time experience at journey level, with detailed training hours and blueprint reading.

Qualifications

• Completion of NYS two-year plumber and steamfitter traineeship or equivalent.
• Four years of full-time journey-level plumbing experience if no traineeship.
• Traineeship or training program includes 288 hours of trade-specific instruction, 45 hours technical math, 45 hours technical communications, and 15 hours blueprint reading (minimum).

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level plumbing and steamfitting work including installation, repair and alteration of piping systems.
• Supervise others in the execution of plumbing tasks and train staff as needed.
• Interpret diagrams, codes and specifications to plan procedures and select materials.
• Test systems for leaks and ensure compliance with safety and plumbing codes.
• Inspect, install and repair fixtures, controls, meters and gauges.
• Direct others and provide verbal instructions on proper plumbing techniques.
