Job summary

Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Massachusetts is seeking a compassionate phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. Under supervision, you will collect blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary puncture, and assist with urine and other specimen collections.

The role requires 1–3 years of hospital phlebotomy experience, excellent customer service, and the ability to follow directions with minimal supervision. LIC/Certification is required within one year of hire, with driving license preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital laboratory setting.
• Excellent customer service and phlebotomy skills; ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
• Preferred English proficiency; good interpersonal communication and organization; good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens using venipuncture or capillary puncture techniques.
• Instruct patients in the collection of urine and other body fluids/specimens.
• Process specimens correctly and track receipt of results; perform lab testing after documented training.
• Perform age-appropriate phlebotomy procedures from patients in sub-acute, long term care facilities, & adult day care centers.
