Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in formulation, preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications at The Miriam Hospital in Providence. Under supervision, you will review orders, assist in IV admixtures, manage controlled substances, and operate the electronic drug dispensing system in a USP 797 environment.

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent, Rhode Island tech licensure, and prepare for CPhT certification.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of one to two years of college preferred.
• Maintains current unrestricted Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician licensure.
• Sits for National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) exam within first 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in formulation and preparation of medications.
• Review medication orders and prepare meds for pharmacist review.
• Operate EDDS for inventory control and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
• Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic techniques in USP 797 environment.
• Maintain and inventory medications, including controlled substances, and assist in packaging and labeling.
