Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics is seeking a Pharmacy Technician at Salem Hospital in Salem, Oregon. This full-time, non-exempt role provides 24-hour float coverage across central, decentral and IV services with four rotating 10-hour shifts.

You will support medication management, prepare and dispense medications, perform medication reconciliation, manage Omnicell cabinets, and ensure compliance with USP standards. Oregon licensure and national certification within one year are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • State of Oregon pharmacy technician licensure is required.
  • National/pharmacy technician certification through NHA or PTCB within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications by filling prescriptions, compounding oral liquids and IV admixtures using aseptic technique and generating labels in Epic.
  • Conduct medication reconciliation by interviewing newly admitted patients and entering home medication histories into Epic.
  • Manage automated dispensing systems including Omnicell cabinets and RxOBOT for first doses and 24-hour fills.
  • Maintain inventory levels by checking stock, placing orders, and completing bi-monthly outdate checks.
  • Deliver medications and IVs across the hospital and support Joint Commission compliance.
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering phones, greeting providers and patients, and coordinating with pharmacy and nursing teams.
  • Support QA activities, infection-control practices, and USP 795/797/800 standards for sterile and non-sterile compounding.
  • Organize daily workload, assist training of new staff, and stay current with procedural changes.
  • Maintain records by entering prescription data and preparing reports for billing and regulatory requirements.
