Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Conroe in Conroe, TX is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacists under supervision, dispensing additives for IV and irrigating solutions and performing aseptic compounding with a laminar airflow hood. Responsibilities include preparing IV packs, processing medication records, stocking supplies, and maintaining inventory.

Must have a High School diploma, state licensure if required, and at least one year of hospital pharmacy experience; fluent

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• State Certification/Licensure if required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepares labels for bottles.
• Fills orders with correct medications; prepares unit of use dosage when possible.
• Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patient, computes charges, and enters data in computer.
• Prepares intravenous (IV) packs.
• Generates required reports; pick i.v., production reports; performs backup procedures.
• Recycles product as appropriate; changes prep and expiration date on recycled product.
• Dates times and initials all vials for reuse.
• Prioritizes work; delivers IVs to proper locations; restocks shelves and rotates stock; disposes of non-recyclable solutions; maintains i.v. refrigerator temperature log.
• Receives and stores incoming supplies; counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
• Returns medications to stock and rotates stock; fills requisitions from Nursing floors; can calculate doses based on patient age (Adult and Geriatrics).
• Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods.
