Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparation, labeling, and distribution of medications at Levine Children’s Hospital and Infusion Pharmacy. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The position is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with a 7 on/7 off schedule and 0700-1900 shifts. Requires a high school diploma and pharmacy tech certification within 18 months of start date.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements.
• Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT) within 18 months from start date, or sooner if in more stringent in state.
• No work experience required. Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Pharmacy technician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in preparation and distribution of medications.
• Select, prepare, and label medications for patients, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Handle phone calls and route appropriately; document interactions in the pharmacy system.
