Job summary

Houston Methodist West Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform routine pharmacy services including triaging phone calls, repackaging and labeling medications, dispensing and inventorying, and supporting overall patient safety and customer service.

Required Texas Pharmacy Technician Registration or Texas Registered Pharmacist Intern; high school diploma or equivalent with preferred college coursework. On-site role with non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; college coursework preferred.
• Texas Pharmacy Technician Registration or Texas Registered Pharmacist Intern is required.
• Zero experience accepted; one year of pharmacy technician experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a positive, team-focused work unit and collaborates with other health care professionals for problem resolution and patient goals.
• Assist with optimizing the safety and efficiency of pharmacy operations and support the workflow of the department.
• Contribute to solving drug-related problems and maximizing patient care.
• Perform safe medication distribution tasks such as triage calls, repackaging, labeling, charging/crediting, compounding, and inventorying medications.
• Document and complete paperwork accurately; report near misses to improve processes and identify trends.
