Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid California Pharmacy Technician license or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Familiarity with dispensing prescriptions, IV admixtures and unit-dose systems.
• Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations and aseptic technique.
• Experience with computer applications related to pharmacy and patient records.
• Excellent customer service and communication with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Compound intravenous medications (IV admixtures, TPN, chemotherapy) using aseptic technique.
• Prepare simple compounds (creams, ointments, solutions) and fill prescription orders.
• Transcribe prescriptions into the computer and prepare medications for pharmacist check.
• Maintain security and records for controlled substances and inventory control.
• Assist in training new staff and pharmacy students and handle medication distribution tasks.
