Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to assist the Pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care and performing technical and clerical duties in the Pharmacy.

The role requires active registration as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist intern and relevant hospital experience, including sterile product preparation. A strong knowledge of medical terminology and customer service is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Licenses/Certifications: Current Pharmacy Tech registration or Pharmacist intern registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy required. ACPE IV Certification with completion of 40-hour course in I.V. admixture preferred.
• Pharmacy Sterile Product certification through accredited program is required if incumbent compounds sterile products.
• Three (3) years of pharmacy experience required, preferably in a hospital setting; grandfathered if hired before Jan 28, 2022 with 2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Select prescribed medications according to dosage and strength indicated on patient files or cart-fill list.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas.
• Stock and monitor drug inventory levels.
• Inspect and maintain emergency medication trays.
• Prepare intravenous medications, large volume parenterals, TPN solutions, epidurals and IV antineoplastics.
• Document Quality Improvement activities for the I.V. Room.
• Ensure medications comply with technology safety checks.
• Attends to customers as a liaison and gathers medication history.
