Job summary

Women & Infants Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing, dispensing and maintaining drug inventory. You will support daily operations, maintain patient records, label medications and audit controlled substances.

The role requires CPHT certification and RI Tech II licensure, with rotation across days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Proficiency with computers and strong interpersonal skills are essential to ensure quality patient care and

Qualifications

• High School graduate with experience in pharmacy or completion of hospital-based training leading to certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Must be certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board with the CPHT certification and licensed through the RI Board of Pharmacy as a Tech II.
• Must be available for rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights as well as every other weekend and every other holiday.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
• Assists in the preparation of drug compounds and solutions.
• Fills, checks and delivers medication orders.
• Audits and distributes controlled substances.
• Maintains departmental infection control standards.
• Creates various reports and documents in support of department record-keeping.
• Completes labeling requirements for medication.
• Participates in Quality Assurance activities.
• Assists in the management of pharmacy inventory.
• Assists in day-to-day operations of the Infusion Center.
• Maintains professional competency.
• Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
• Performs other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.
