Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to ensure appropriate medication selection, dosing, dispensing, and patient education. The role includes reviewing orders, resolving drug-related problems, and collaborating with physicians to optimize patient care.

You will oversee technical staff, may precept pharmacy students, and may float to cover needs. Strong knowledge of formulary alternatives and safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed as a Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) is required.

Responsibilities

• Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders.
• Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems. Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
• Compound and dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.
• Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
• Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
• Oversee technical personnel who assist in preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications. May serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students. May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
• Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.
