Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Pathologist to provide comprehensive anatomic and clinical pathology services and serve as Medical Director of the laboratory at a UNC Health hospital. This clinically focused role supports high-quality patient care, efficient diagnostic services, and collaboration with hospital leadership, clinicians, and laboratory staff.

The position emphasizes operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and timely services in a hospital setting, with no academic teaching

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
• Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic interpretation of routine surgical pathology specimens and biopsies.
• Perform and interpret intraoperative frozen sections.
• Participate in cytology services as needed.
• Meet turnaround time expectations for signout.
• Onsite pathology resource for surgeons and clinicians.
• Participate in multidisciplinary conferences or tumor boards.
• Medical Director duties including leadership and regulatory compliance.
• Support Lab quality, patient safety, and inspections.
