Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University is seeking a Paint/Maintenance Worker to prepare surfaces and apply paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces within hospital facilities. The role includes minor carpentry repairs, wall coverings, and maintaining painting supplies.

Responsibilities include performing hospital rounds to address compliance, using ladders/scaffolding as needed, and coordinating with trades.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous related painting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Paints, varnishes, stains, etc. existing and new surfaces inside and outside the hospital buildings and properties as directed.
• Applies scratch coat and finish plaster to walls for painting; installs backing material into areas to be plastered; seals surfaces prior to painting; cleans walls to ensure proper adherence.
• Selects premixed paints, stains, and other finish coatings or prepares paints, stains, and other finish coatings to match specified colors or finishes by blending or mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, thinning and drying substances.
• Uses ladders and scaffolding as required and installs and repairs wall coverings as needed.
• Fills holes, cracks, and joints with putty, spackle, caulking or other filler; applies paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
• Completes hospital rounds to identify and resolve regulatory compliance deficiencies.
• Works with and assists department trades as needed, and performs other hospital maintenance duties as assigned.
