Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital is seeking an experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to serve as a float therapist across medical-surgical units and our Acute Rehab Unit. You will support patient recovery under the guidance of an OT and collaborate with nurses and physicians to deliver comprehensive care.

Candidates must have an OTA degree, NBCOT, and DC licensure, plus hospital experience and BLS. This is a full-time position with weekend shifts and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• NBCOT certification required.
• DC license before start of employment.
• Experience in a hospital setting or Acute Inpatient Rehab is required.
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Professionals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing patient treatment plans under OT guidance.
• Monitor patient response and adjust plans in consultation with an OT.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and rehab staff for adult inpatients and ARU.
• Educate patients and caregivers on rehabilitation tasks and activities.
• Work 40 hours weekly (five 8-hour shifts) with one weekend shift per month.
