Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to serve as Assistant Area Director of Advanced Practice – Hospital Medicine for the Wake Forest Market. This leadership role combines clinical expertise with operational oversight to support APP teams across multiple sites in the Wake Forest Market.

The ideal candidate has a strong Hospital Medicine background and is ready to expand impact beyond direct patient care into formal Advanced

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Master’s degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice required.
• Appropriate national board certification required.
• Current or eligible for North Carolina NP/APRN and RN licensure.
• DEA registration and prescriptive authority as required.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational leadership to Hospital Medicine APP teams.
• Implement and oversee tactical initiatives established by Area and Divisional Service Line leadership.
• Identify opportunities to improve clinical quality, safety, patient and APP experience, access to care, utilization, and productivity.
• Serve as a primary communication link between frontline APPs and Hospital Medicine leadership.
• Communicate organizational strategy, standards, and operational changes clearly and effectively.
• Elevate site-specific needs, risks, and opportunities to appropriate leadership.
• Support APP recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, engagement, professional development, and retention.
• Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
