Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY, seeks a Locksmith for the Full Time Day Shift to install, maintain and repair locks, keys and related hardware across facilities.

You will prepare and maintain extensive records, follow safety and security procedures, and may supervise others. A strong foundation in locksmithing (apprenticeship or equivalent) and experience in healthcare settings are preferred; a valid NY driver license is desirable.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship training in servicing and repairing locks or an equivalent program.
• Prefer experience in hospital/healthcare settings.
• Valid and current NY driver license.
• Ability to read, interpret plans/diagrams and specifications.
• Ability to estimate labor and material requirements for locksmith work.
• Ability to supervise and train others as required.

Responsibilities

• Repairs locks that are jammed or inoperative.
• Install and maintain lock systems in State facilities.
• Manufacture and duplicate keys as needed.
• Maintain extensive records of locks, keys and combinations.
• Assist other journey level workers and follow security procedures.
