Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a PRN Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to work in a hospital setting. Days 8a-4:30p with no weekends, offering a stable daytime schedule in a dynamic medical environment.

You will interview patients and relatives, gather social histories, arrange support services, serve as liaison between medical and nursing staff and outside agencies, and help resolve social problems related to illness and hospitalization.

Qualifications

• Requires a master’s degree in social work.
• Minimum one year of job-related experience preferred in an acute care setting.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
• Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients and relatives to obtain social history relevant to medical problems and planning.
• Assists patients with environmental difficulties that interfere with obtaining maximum benefits from medical care.
• Serves as liaison between medical and nursing staffs, patients, relatives and appropriate outside agencies.
• Interprets and assists in resolving social problems that relate to medical condition and/or hospitalization.
