Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Laundry Associate to collect soiled laundry, sort, weigh, wash, dry, and distribute clean linens across hospital departments. The role also includes sewing repairs, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities include operating washing equipment, recording daily processing weights, and delivering linen supplies per par levels. Prior experience not required, and basic reading/writing/arithmetic skills are needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists peers and performs daily housekeeping duties in area of assignment.
• Assists with flatwork finishing and folds for mangling; acts as catcher and folder after laundry is pressed.
• Keeps records of total weight processed daily for each hospital department.
• Delivers linens to user departments per schedule and maintains par levels.
• Marks dimensions on cloth and assembles pieces using sewing machine or by hand.
• Operates sewing equipment, cleans machines and sewing room, and maintains supplies.
• Washes and dries laundry, loads and unloads washers/dryers, observes safety protocols.
• Participates in meetings and quality/service improvement teams.
