Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a HLT III to perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, and related duties in a high-volume clinical lab on site in California. You will ensure quality specimen handling and compliance with CAP, TJC, OSHA, and state requirements.

The role requiresCalifornia Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I) and at least 2 years of phlebotomy experience, with weekend/holiday coverage on a rotating basis. Familiarity with lab software and inventory tasks is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• At least 2 years of Phlebotomy experience.
• Good computer skills including knowledge of various software applications.
• One year clinical laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen procurement and phlebotomy following established protocols.
• Process and handle blood components as required.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with CAP, TJC, OSHA and other regulatory standards.
• Inventory and ordering of supplies, clerical tasks, and communication with laboratory customers.

Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor 2, the HLT III performs a full range of duties from specimen procurement/phlebotomy, specimen and/or blood component processing and handling. This includes performing a wide variety of repetitive technical procedures and standardized tests according to established protocols. Perform all duties in a manner consistent with current laboratory safety standards. Assist in preparing/ maintaining compliance as established by regulating agencies such as CAP, TJC, OSHA and other federal and state agencies. Additional duties include inventory and ordering of supplies, clerical, telephone, and communication with laboratory customers. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I)
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must be willing to provide weekend and holiday coverage on a rotational basis and variable shift assignment(s) as needed
• At least 2 years of Phlebotomy experience
