Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a dedicated food service cook to prepare meals according to approved menus, recipes, and production sheets. You will ensure foods meet required temperatures, garnish creatively when appropriate, and follow HACCP and safety standards.

You will handle, cook, and portion foods, maintain production and temperature logs, and support sanitation and inventory tasks. English literacy and basic math are essential, with preferred certification and healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• 1 year of cooking or 3 years of directly related food service experience required.
• Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English.
• Basic math for recipe quantity calculations.
• Preferred: HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Preferred: Serv Safe Food Handlers certification.

Responsibilities

• Follows standardized recipes while being able to quantity and batch cook, appropriately garnish and decorate according to standards.
• Handles, prepares, and distributes food at the proper temperature and assists in cleaning and sanitation of equipment as per health codes.
• Completes administrative records such as inventory, production records, logs (temperature, waste, substitutions), and reports daily.
• Performs cleaning duties daily, waste disposal, and assists with pots and pans.
• Attends department meetings and provides feedback to promote quality improvement.
• Performs other related duties as required.
