Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration seeks an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic at the VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC. You will install, troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance on, and repair HVAC&R equipment and controls to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Work schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm. The role requires physical work in tight spaces, exposure to various environments, and adherence to safety and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience with HVAC&R equipment and controls in a hospital setting.
• Valid state driver's license required.
• Able to perform physical tasks in tight spaces and hazardous environments.

Responsibilities

• Repairing, troubleshooting, maintaining and installing air conditioning equipment in hospital buildings.
• Installing, repairing and maintaining refrigerators, freezers and ice machines for patient care and labs.
• Operating and repairing environmental control systems, sensors, actuators and LAN devices.
• Diagnosing and repairing a wide range of HVAC functions including heating, cooling, humidification and air filtration.
