Job summary

Miltiary Treatment Facilities under DHA (DOD) in Maryland seeks a Hospital Housekeeping Manager to assist the Hospital Housekeeping Officer in Environmental Services within the MEDDAC. This Direct Hire Authority position supports hospital cleanliness operations, manages daily housekeeping and recycling activities, and assists with medical waste handling.

The incumbent will read and interpret plans and schedules, ensure contractor compliance, and aid in budget preparation.

Qualifications

• Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes supporting hospital cleanliness operations; helping manage and coordinate daily housekeeping and recycling activities; and assisting with tasks involving medical waste handling.
• Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Public Health or Business Administration.
• Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement and related verification.
• Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Responsibilities

• Monitor use of supplies and equipment by housekeeping contractor.
• Read and interpret floor plans, charts, work schedules, technical orders, and contract specifications to evaluate materials and methods used by contractor.
• Ensure housekeepers and other contractor personnel comply with professional standards statutes and regulations.
• Develop and conduct periodic customer satisfaction surveys and provide feedback to the HHO and define requirements for corrective action.
• Conduct daily random quality assurance sampling inspections of the facility, documenting results and findings to the HHO.
• Assist with the technical and administrative operation of the hospital waste management stream (regulated medical waste, precious metal and recycling contracts).
• Prepare various reports and maintain contract data and information.
• Assist with preparing budgets for the housekeeping program.

Education

Graduate-level education in Public Health or Business Administration
