Job summary

Story County Medical Center in Nevada, Iowa, seeks a Housekeeper to join Environmental Services. The role is hourly, full-time, with daytime hours and weekend rotation as needed. You will clean and disinfect patient areas, handle linens, and follow safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers, patients, and visitors.
• Ability to understand oral and written communications.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient care areas as assigned to meet the needs of the organization, including public restrooms, administrative areas, kitchen, cafeteria, meeting rooms, etc.
• Follow outlined guidelines on the use and storage of cleaning solutions and other hazardous chemicals to ensure proper safety precautions are being followed.
• Collect, sort, wash, dry and fold linens. Collect dirty linens and distribute clean linens to designated areas of Story Medical.
• Appropriately handle clean linen to ensure compliance with state and federal standards, and Story Medical policies
• Clean windows, furniture, air diffusers and grilles, doors and entrances.
• Remove general and potentially infectious medical waste and transport it to a general holding and/or disposal area.
• Maintain effective communication with Facilities department staff and all other Story Medical departments.
• Participate in huddles and staff meetings and attend other meetings and events as they relate to the Facilities Department functions.
• Assist in the distribution of linens.
