Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Housekeeping Aide to scrub, strip, polish and refinish floors, operating various cleaning machines, while maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment. You will handle waste disposal, assist with discharge cleans, and support OR cleaning as needed.

Required are a High School diploma or GED, 1–2 years of housekeeping experience, and strong customer-service and English communication skills. Lifting up to 35 lb with assistive devices as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• 1-2 years housekeeping experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to read chemical labels and safety materials.
• Able to lift up to 35 pounds; lifting equipment used for heavier lifts.

Responsibilities

• Scrub, strip, polish and refinish floors using appropriate equipment.
• Clean and sanitize after spills and dispose of waste properly.
• Operate floor cleaning equipment safely and maintain equipment.
• Assist with patient areas and maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Cross-train on discharge room cleans and OR cleaning to accommodate hospital needs.
