Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Facilities Technician to perform basic maintenance tasks across hospital facilities, conducting safety and preventative inspections and coordinating materials for job completion. The role includes basic mechanical, electrical and plumbing repairs, carpentry and painting as needed to support hospital operations.

Candidates should have at least two years of maintenance experience; healthcare environment experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of general maintenance related experience.
• Health care environment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, heating and cooling.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance manuals.

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively with patients, family members and hospital staff to support quality.
• Promotes a positive, team-focused work environment and collaborates across the department.
• Performs surveillance of facilities through rounding and work orders to advance service levels.
• Assists with central plant operations and daily facility tasks, including minor repairs.
• Seeks information from senior staff to complete semi-skilled maintenance tasks.
• Conducts basic analysis, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
