Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Facilities Technician responsible for basic maintenance tasks across hospital facilities, performing safety and preventative inspections, and obtaining materials as needed.

The role involves basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting repairs, plus participation in emergency systems testing to support safe, reliable operations of the hospital. Strong communication with patients and staff and ability to follow detailed instructions are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of general maintenance related experience.
• Health care environment preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate in English with patients, staff and co-workers.
• Ability to complete work within designated time frames.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, heating and cooling.

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively with patients, family members, medical staff, co-workers and hospital personnel to contribute to the quality of the work environment.
• Performs entity surveillance through rounding and issuing work orders and supports facility improvements.
• Seeks information and references from senior staff to complete semi-skilled maintenance repairs.
• Conducts basic preventive maintenance inspections including HVAC, electrical and plumbing as appropriate.
