Job summary

Ottumwa Regional Health Center, operated jointly with Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Maintenance Worker to uphold the hospital’s physical plant, HVAC, electrical and grounds systems in safe, efficient condition. You’ll report to the Director of Plant Operations and support CQI activities to ensure patient-focused operations.

The role requires 2+ years in maintenance (hospital setting preferred), English communication skills, and basic computer knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or the equivalent.
• At least 2 years' experience with maintenance, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory policies highly preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Report daily to the Director of Plant Operations on the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress.
• Follow policies, procedures and standards of work performance for maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and building systems.
• Assist in administering the maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of the entire physical plant.
• Work with other departments and administration; negotiate priorities and plans work schedules.
• Perform maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction, and checks of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.
• Assist with maintaining stock levels of materials and parts within budgetary constraints.
• Assist in energy management program compliance and fire/safety coordination.
