Job summary

Saint Joseph Mount Sterling is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to keep patient rooms and hospital areas clean and sanitized, protecting patients and staff from illness and hazards. Daily duties include sweeping, mopping, dusting, and using specialized equipment to ensure facility sanitation.

The role requires adherence to proper waste disposal, infection prevention practices, PPE, and privacy guidelines.

Qualifications

• None required upon hire.
• Preferred High School Graduate with healthcare experience.
• Preferred High School GED with healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment; identify and handle waste per procedures and regulations; follow infection prevention practices and PPE protocols.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, personal accountability, and knowledge of facility safety requirements.
• Operate and maintain EVS tools; assist with miscellaneous tasks such as conference room setups, stairwell/elevator cleaning, and curtain hanging; mentor new staff as needed.
