Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a dedicated environmental services crew member to clean and disinfect patient rooms, offices, and hospital areas according to strict schedules and procedures. You will operate cleaning equipment, handle chemicals safely, and maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities include linen and waste handling, adherence to infection control policies, and using AIDET to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Able to operate small electrical equipment such as vacuum cleaners.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect assigned areas (walls, doors, ceilings, furniture, floors, and equipment) with approved solutions.
• Follow schedules and procedures; work in patient rooms, offices, restrooms, elevators, stairwells and other hospital areas.
• Operate equipment per department procedures and keep work areas orderly, clean and safe.
• Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction using AIDET with internal and external customers.
• Address conflicts constructively and maintain a positive, supportive attitude with patients, families and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and departmental information and follow chain of command for issues.
• Prepare detergents and germicidal solutions; mop floors, shampoo carpets, and ensure proper labeling and safety of chemicals.
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment; report hazards; replenish supplies and remove waste according to procedures.
• Collect and dispose of linens and trash; separate recyclable waste as required.
• Attend departmental meetings; complete CBTs; follow department goals and participate in annual evaluations.
