Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Richmond VA Medical Center is seeking an Electrician to perform installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of electrical lines, circuits, and equipment across hospital facilities.

The role involves hands-on troubleshooting of 4160-volt switchgear, UPS systems, and IT infrastructure, with shifts including 1st and 2nd. Experience supporting patient-care systems is valued.

Qualifications

• Evidence of training or experience showing ability to do the work.
• Applicants will be evaluated by the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
• Duties include electrical equipment assembly, installation, repair, troubleshooting and technical practices.

Responsibilities

• Installs, modifies, troubleshoots, repairs and tests electrical lines, circuits, systems and equipment.
• Maintains 4160 volt switchgear and hospital chillers’ electrical gear.
• Tests and maintains hospital-wide computer/IT backed power and UPS systems.
• Keeps records of testing and repairs for power distribution facilities.
• Assists Electrical Supervisor in coordinating with engineers, administrators and contractors.
