Job summary

The Alden Network in Chicago seeks a dedicated dietary professional to prepare and serve meals in accordance with applicable standards and facility policies. This role supervises food production and presentation while supporting a safe, compliant kitchen environment.

Candidates should have knowledge of dietary procedures and be able to read, write, and speak English clearly. Hospital or skilled nursing facility experience is preferred but not mandatory, with a focus on teamwork and resident

Qualifications

• One year dietary experience preferred.
• Knowledge of dietary procedures.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must read, write, and speak the English language clearly.

Responsibilities

• Complies with department policy, procedures and regulations.
• Review menu extensions before food preparation.
• Assist in menu changes with the Corporate Dietitian.
• Prepare meals according to planned menus, including therapeutic diet.
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing.
• Serve food with established portion control.
• Prepare food with standardized recipes.
• Ensure resident meal trays are correct.
• Demonstrate proper food handling techniques.
• Complete daily and scheduled cleaning.
• Date, label and store food properly.
• Assist in receiving and storing incoming food and supplies.
• Record menu substitutions on designated forms.
• Meet meal and snack times as scheduled.
• Report all accidents/incidents to supervisor immediately.
• Report hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Recommend equipment and supply needs.
• Attend staff meetings and in-services.
• Supervise Dietary Department in absence of Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
