Job summary

Harborview Medical Center, part of UW Medicine, seeks Hospital Custodians for 100% FTE night shift positions (11:00pm–7:30am) in Seattle. Responsibilities include cleaning, disinfection, linen handling, and waste management across inpatient, non-patient areas and offices.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure.
• Removes soiled linen; disinfects and remakes beds; dusts and mops hard floors with disinfectant.
• Empties/relines wastebaskets, regulated medical waste containers, and recycle containers.
• Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure.
• Strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors.
• Performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure.
• Vacuums and spot clean carpets; operates automated carpet shampooers and extractors.
• Follows written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, personal protective apparel, supplies, and equipment.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Our staff team contribute to UW Medicine Patients Are First healthcare team by providing a clean, healthy, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Our services at Harborview Medical Center housekeeping, linen, and waste management.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

• Under general supervision, the individual in this role will maintain cleanliness and care of facilities in inpatient and non-patient areas and administrative offices as assigned.
