Job description

Job Title: Credentialing Coordinator (Remote with Preference for In-Person in Virginia)

This is a remote position that requires candidates to be located in Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, or Maryland.

We are seeking an experienced professional in credentialing, specifically with at least 3 years of hospital credentialing experience. This experience should include processing initial and reappointment applications with a focus on assessing privileges.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of initial credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging for clinicians on medical and allied health staff at VCU Health System Hospitals.
  • Interact with clinicians to obtain applications and documents, evaluate data for accuracy and completeness, monitor receipt, and follow up to ensure timely processing.
  • Notify supervisor or director of any adverse, incomplete, or questionable data.
  • Work independently, assess situations, consider alternatives, and determine appropriate actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional discretion.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital bylaws, JCAHO, NCQA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Assist the Director in the development, planning, and organization of the Medical Staff Office operations.
  • Attend medical staff committee meetings as directed and support medical staff officers and departments.
Qualifications:
  • Required: Minimum of 3 years of credentialing and medical terminology experience in a hospital or managed care setting; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel) and credentialing software; Associates or Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of credentialing experience; familiarity with JCAHO, URAC, NCQA guidelines; Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS); Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM).
Additional Requirements:
  • Express ideas clearly and concisely; prioritize work effectively; develop strong relationships with team members.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task under pressure.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Physical requirements include lifting 20-50 lbs., prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and mental acuity for reasoning, problem-solving, and communication.
Other Details:

This position can be remote, but in-person work is preferred. Candidates must reside in Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, or Maryland.
