Join to apply for the Hospital Coding Educator Outpatient - REMOTE role at Advocate Health.

This role involves delivering education sessions within the coder education program, coordinating training and onboarding, and developing educational resources. The educator will assess coder comprehension, track educational outcomes, and stay current with coding guidelines and updates.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Delivering education sessions, including remote onboarding and ongoing training.
  2. Collaborating with leadership to identify cross-training opportunities.
  3. Assessing training effectiveness and developing follow-up plans.
  4. Creating and maintaining educational tools, curricula, and materials.
  5. Researching and communicating updates in coding guidelines.
  6. Maintaining the SharePoint website with updated guidance.
  7. Participating in clinical documentation improvement and coding team processes.
  8. Staying informed on healthcare quality measures and indicators.
  9. Attending relevant team meetings and performing additional duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements include:

  • AHIMA CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification.
  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
  • At least 5 years of hospital coding experience in a large healthcare system.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, MS-DRGs, and related coding systems.
  • Leadership skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and excellent communication abilities.
