Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System seeks a Staff Chaplain-PRN to provide spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, and staff across trauma, codes, and end-of-life situations in Dallas, TX. The role is PRN with varied weekend and weekday coverage.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree and ACPE education; graduate theological study is preferred. Responsibilities include coordination with the interdisciplinary team, documentation, and adherence to patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• One ACPE-accredited CPCE unit required.
• Graduate-level theological education preferred or in progress.
• Prefer four ACPE-accredited CPCE units.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, and staff, including trauma and end-of-life scenarios.
• Respond to referrals for spiritual care and continuity of care from chaplains.
• Release bodies to funeral homes, complete release documentation.
• Assist with Advance Directives and provide emotional support and document completion.
• Oversee decedent care spiritual aspects and coordinate with the care team.
• Document spiritual assessments and plans in medical records; provide handoffs to on-call chaplains.
• Conduct routine spiritual visits to identified areas of need.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
