Job summary

The Boiler Operator at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital inspects, cleans, fires and adjusts boilers to maintain a continuous steam supply for hospital heating and powering laundry and sterilizing equipment. You will monitor gauges and observe equipment to ensure safe, compliant operation.

Evening shift 3:00 pm–11:00 pm, Thursday–Monday, on-site. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and at least two years’ boiler operation experience, plus FDNY certifications within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience operating steam boiler plants.
• Must be available for weekends, evenings, nights, holidays and outages.
• FDNY G-91 supervision of natural gas co-generation within 6 months of hire.
• FDNY A-35 air compressors within 6 months of hire.
• FDNY P-98 fuel oil piping and bulk storage within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, clean, fire and adjust boilers to maintain steam generation.
• Monitor meters and gauges to ensure proper operation.
• Notify watch engineer for major repairs.
• Re-order fuel as required.
• Respond to hospital emergencies.
