Hospital Attendant- Patient Transporter - Full Time Day Shift (10:00 AM -6:30 PM)

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, our Hospital Attendants are valuable members of our team, primarily responsible for transporting patients and supplies throughout the hospital.

Duties of a Hospital Attendant – Patient transport may include the following but are not limited to:

• Transport patients, equipment, materials, computer printouts, and specimens to all areas of the hospital in a timely and courteous manner.
• Locate equipment during retrieval runs to replenish inventory.
• Transport the deceased to the hospital morgue.
• Wash equipment in the designated area of Transport Services.
• Answer phones, log calls, and dispatch Transport Services personnel, monitoring dispatch responsibilities.
• Perform scheduled deliveries of reports, supplies, and Medical Records.
• Ensure services are performed efficiently and respond to service issues appropriately.

Qualifications

Required: Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor.

Preferred: High School Diploma, previous hospital experience, and strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across organization levels.
