Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice provides compassionate in-home hospice and end-of-life care for pets across Maryland. Veterinarians work on the road, visiting families in their homes with flexible scheduling options that include 2–5 day-per-week and self-managed parts-time schedules.

The role emphasizes thoughtful mentorship, professional autonomy, and a supportive team, with generous benefits and a focus on dignified goodbyes in familiar surroundings.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD/BVMS) required.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
• Must be willing to travel within Maryland service areas.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 90 lbs with assistance.
• License verification, background check, and driving record review prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate in-home hospice and euthanasia care for pets.
• Practice independently on the road with mentorship and team support.
• Communicate with families to explain care options and expectations.
• Maintain professionalism and empathy during difficult conversations.
