Executive Director Responsibilities

As an Executive Director, you will report directly to our Assistant Vice President of Operations. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of your assigned hospice location, overseeing patient admissions, ancillary services, supervision of personnel and volunteers, and ongoing communication with leadership.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence through quality care and service.
  • Implement continuous quality improvement principles.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation, licensing, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Manage Human Resources effectively.
  • Promote positive communication and staff engagement.
  • Coordinate staff orientation, training, and continuing education.
  • Supervise and evaluate interdisciplinary team members.
  • Manage team performance and workload distribution.
  • Oversee office operations and resource planning.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of services.
  • Supervise quality of patient care and handle emergency situations.
  • Participate in patient visits and on-call schedules as needed (if RN).
  • Collaborate with physicians, patients, families, and staff on issues and concerns.
  • Supervise and evaluate family satisfaction surveys.
  • Manage financial resources within budget, including reviewing expenses and preparing financial reports.

About You

  • Registered Nurse with minimum Associates Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum one year management/supervisory experience; two years hospice/home care experience preferred.
  • Three years of clinical patient care preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare sales/management is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications: Current nursing license, CPR certification, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance. Must operate equipment and maintain transportation.

Potential titles include RN Branch Director, RN Branch Manager, Hospice Branch Director, Executive Director, RN Administrator, among others.
