Executive Director Responsibilities:

As an Executive Director with Gentiva Hospice, you will report directly to our Assistant Vice President of Operations. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of your assigned hospice location. The Executive Director oversees the coordination of patient admissions to Hospice Services in a smooth, systematic process, as well as arranging for ancillary services to complement care. Additionally, the Executive Director will oversee the direction, supervision, and evaluation of hospice personnel and volunteers, and coordinate services among all team members of the multi-teamed site, maintaining ongoing communication with leadership.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate a commitment to excellence by focusing on quality care and service.
  2. Incorporate continuous quality improvement principles into daily activities.
  3. Promote and monitor compliance with requirements and standards established by accrediting or licensing agencies, regulatory bodies, and relevant laws.
  4. Recommend and implement policies and procedures.
  5. Manage Human Resources effectively by promoting positive communication, ensuring staff meetings, providing orientation and ongoing education, supervising team members, and assigning tasks appropriately.
  6. Manage Office Operations by organizing tasks and resources, ensuring accurate documentation, supervising patient care quality, and participating in on-call schedules if applicable.
  7. Manage financial resources prudently, including preparing financial reviews, monitoring budgets, and reviewing expenses.
About You
  • Education:
  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing; a Bachelor’s degree (BSN) is preferred; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum one year of management or supervisory experience.
  • At least two years’ experience in hospice or home care.
  • Three years’ experience in clinical patient care preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare sales or management is a plus.
  • Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registration:
  • Current nursing license in the state of employment, if applicable.
  • CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
  • Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Ability to operate computers, fax, copier, and cell phone; reliable transportation required.

Potential titles include RN Branch Director, RN Branch Manager, Hospice Branch Director, Executive Director, RN Executive Director, RN Administrator, Hospice Administrator, and similar roles.
