Job summary

Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Missouri provides hospice services for patients with terminal illness in private homes, nursing homes, or other care settings. The nonprofit organization accepts Medicaid, Medicare and private pay for services.

Responsibilities include symptom assessment, teaching patients and caregivers self-care, administering IV and injectable meds, managing pain, wound care, and communicating changes to the physician and hospice IDG team.

Qualifications

• Assess symptoms of diseases and responses to treatment.
• Teach patients and caregivers how to give their own care and provide end of life comfort care, answer questions about meds, diet, disease process, activity, etc.
• Administer IV and injectable meds, perform prescribed treatments
• Assist with pain control
• Provide wound management, and ostomy care
• Restore independence and communicate changes in the patient's health to physician and hospice IDG team as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Teach patients and families self-care and comfort care at end of life.
• Administer IV and injectable meds and carry out prescribed treatments.
• Assist with pain control and wound management, ostomy care.
• Report patient health changes to physician and hospice IDG team.
