Job summary

Interim HealthCare Hospice is seeking a PRN Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate, home-based end-of-life care across Mandeville, Covington, Slidell, Kenner, Metairie, and New Orleans areas in Louisiana.

You’ll work with an interdisciplinary team, assessing patients, managing symptoms, educating families, and supporting quality of life with flexible PRN visits and 1:1 patient care. Louisiana RN license required, CPR, and valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program with an active Louisiana RN license.
• Minimum of 1 year of home hospice nursing experience.
• CPR certification.
• Valid Louisiana driver’s license and auto insurance.
• Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations.
• Strong communication, clinical proficiency, and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Provide home-based care to patients with a prognosis of six months or less, focusing on quality of life.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to carry out the patient’s plan of care.
• Perform patient assessments, check vitals, assess breathing, monitor pain, administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Ensure accessibility of medical equipment, prescribed oxygen, medications and other supplies.
• Educate family on prognosis, changes in care plan, medications and hospice goals.
• Take a holistic approach to care engaging mind, body, spirit, and family.

As a Hospice Registered Nurse, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:

• Provide home-based care to patients with a prognosis of six months or less to live, focused on quality of life
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team comprised of a physician, LPN, CNA, HHA, social worker, chaplain and volunteers to carry out the patient’s plan of care
• Perform patient assessments, check vitals, evaluate breathing, monitor pain, administer prescribed medication and treatments
• Ensure accessibility of medical equipment, prescribed oxygen, medication and other supplies
• Educate family on the patient’s prognosis, changes in care plan, medication and hospice goals
• Take a holistic approach to care that engages the patient’s mind, body, spirit and family

A few must-haves for Hospice Registered Nurses:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and active RN license in Louisiana
• Minimum of 1 year of home hospice nursing experience
• CPR certification
