Job summary

Hospice of the Chesapeake in Maryland seeks a Hospice and Palliative Care Physician to work under the supervision of the Medical Director. You will provide medical leadership across referral, admission, plan of care, and ongoing service delivery while ensuring compliance with licensure and accreditation standards.

The position requires an MD/DO, Maryland license, and at least two years of practice; board certification in hospice/palliative care is preferred or anticipated within 2–3 years.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy with MD/DO credential.
• Current Maryland physician license is required.
• Board certification in hospice and palliative care or intent to obtain within 2–3 years.
• Experience in hospice/palliative care setting preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and patient service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical leadership in hospice and palliative care delivery under the Medical Director.
• Oversee referral, admission, plan of care, and ongoing service delivery while ensuring compliance with laws and accrediting bodies.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and department policy development.
• Collaborate with leadership to prepare for surveys and regulatory reviews.
• Maintain competency in EMRs and regulatory requirements.
