Work Location:

Tippecanoe County and surrounding communities

Position is on an "as-needed" basis (PRN) or Part Time

Schedule is M-F

Job Functions:

  • Performs accurate and comprehensive music therapy assessments within a 5 day window from the start of care date.
  • Adapt existing or create new music therapy assessment instruments or procedures to meet individual patient's needs.
  • Analyze data to determine the effectiveness of specific treatments or therapy approaches. Analyze or synthesize patient data to draw conclusions or make recommendations for therapy.
  • Review research or literature in music therapy or related disciplines.
  • Assess patient functioning levels, strengths, and areas of need in terms of perceptual, sensory, affective, communicative, musical, or other abilities.
  • Communicate patient assessment findings and recommendations in oral, written, audio, video, or other forms.
  • Confer with professionals on patient's treatment team to develop, coordinate, or integrate treatment plans.
  • Customize treatment programs for Hospice population.
  • Design music therapy experiences to meet patient and family goals or objectives.
  • Establish patient goals or objectives for music therapy treatment, considering patient needs, capabilities, interests, overall therapeutic program, coordination of treatment, or length of treatment.
  • Understand hospice philosophy and issues of death and dying.
  • Improvise instrumentally, vocally, or physically to meet patient's therapeutic needs.
  • Observe and document patient reactions, progress, or other outcomes related to music therapy and Hospice.
  • Plan or structure music therapy sessions to achieve appropriate transitions, pacing, sequencing, energy level, or intensity, in accordance with treatment plans.
  • Play musical instruments, such as keyboard, guitar, or percussion instruments.

Experience:

  • One year of Hospice experience preferred, but not required.

Credentials:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy
  • Board Certified
  • Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training preferred
  • Proof of current classroom CPR
  • Hepatitis profile and TB vaccination record
  • Current Driver's License
  • Must have reliable transportation and insurance
