Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. seeks a Hospice Medical Director to provide medical leadership and physician oversight for the Akron-area hospice program.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree required and active Ohio license.
• Current state and federal controlled-substance registrations.
• Hospice or palliative-care experience or training.
• Knowledge of Medicare hospice eligibility, certification, recertification, and Conditions of Participation.
• Ability to collaborate with attending physicians and hospice teams.
• Commitment to continuing medical education in hospice/palliative medicine.
• Eligible for Medicare participation and not excluded from federal programs.
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, documentation, and relationship-building skills.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Hospice Medical Director to provide medical leadership and physician oversight for its Akron-area hospice program.

The Medical Director will assume responsibility for the medical component of the hospice program, serve as a clinical resource to the interdisciplinary team, support appropriate hospice eligibility and certification decisions, and help ensure continuity and quality of physician services.

This is a contract position.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
• Active, unrestricted Ohio physician license.
• Current state and federal controlled-substance registrations.
• Hospice or palliative-care experience, or substantive training in end-of-life care.
• Knowledge of Medicare hospice eligibility, certification, recertification, and Conditions of Participation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with attending physicians and interdisciplinary hospice teams.
• Commitment to continued medical education related to hospice and palliative medicine.
• Eligible to participate in Medicare and not excluded from any federal healthcare program.
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, documentation, and relationship-development skills.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The preferred physician will combine sound medical judgment with a collaborative, responsive approach to hospice care.

The Medical Director should be comfortable advising clinicians, educating community physicians, supporting eligibility decisions, participating in interdisciplinary care, and representing hospice professionally within the medical community.

Board certification or significant experience in hospice and palliative medicine, geriatrics, internal medicine, family medicine, oncology, or another closely related specialty would be valuable.

Engagement Structure

This is a contract position. Specific expectations regarding availability, patient volume, interdisciplinary meetings, physician coverage, and compensation will be discussed during the confidential interview process.
